Doors 8:00pm Jack Howard’s Epic Brass 8:30pm

Jack Howard’s Epic Brass hits The Espy on Friday March 26th. Penny Ikinger will guest in this ripper show which is a celebration and an exploration of the great horn hits and hidden gems of Australian rock – from Hunters and Collectors and the Oils to The Saints, Laughing Clowns and Painters And Dockers, the show features an incredible set list of killer brass tunes.

Jack is joined on stage by a cavalcade of guest singers. Paulie Stewart (Painters And Dockers), Steve Lucas from X, Penny Ikinger (Wet Taxis) and live wire Fiona Lee Maynard bring their style and their energy to this uniquely powerful show. The excellent Helen Cattanach from Moler makes her EB debut singing a couple of dead set classics; and Barry Palmer, lead guitarist with The Hunnas, will be guesting on a few tunes. It’ll be bigger than Texas! There’s also a rumour going around town that a couple of very big names may be making their first appearance with the show. Could that be Tex Perkins and Mick Harvey performing a Birthday Party classic? Stay tuned… The Epic Brass band itself is sensational and features a mighty four-piece horn section.

Jack Howard played trumpet with Hunters and Collectors and wrote and arranged most of the band’s iconic horn lines. Along the way, he’s also played with The Violent Femmes, Rodriguez, You Am I, The Living End and a host of others. Throughout 2017, Jack toured the world with Midnight Oil as their trumpeter/keyboard player/percussionist. He has also just released his musical memoirs, Small Moments Of Glory, and released his tenth original album, Dog Songs. Check it out at jackhoward.bandcamp.com.
