Saturday 24 October 2026 at Brotherhood of St Laurence, 518 Centre Road, Bentleigh at 1.30 pm

Tony Biggs has been stirring the pot, spinning records and speaking his mind on Australian radio for more than four decades.
From his early days at Brisbane’s legendary 4ZZZ in the early 1980s, Tony went on to host programs on JJJ in Sydney before landing in Melbourne, where he became a familiar and distinctive voice on 3RRR. Since the late 1990s, he has hosted On The Blower, 3RRR’s long-running talkback and discussion program, earning a reputation for fearless conversation, sharp political commentary and a passion for music in all its wild and wonderful forms.

But Tony’s history isn’t confined to the airwaves. He’s also been a drummer in a string of Australian underground bands.

Tony’s eclectic musical life is reflected in his substantial collection of music-related books and CDs, which he has generously donated to the Brotherhood of St Laurence Bentleigh Store.
Come along to celebrate the donation, browse the collection, uncover some musical treasures to take home, and discover more about the enigmatic man behind the microphone. The books and

CDs will be available for purchase at the store.

A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

As part of the event, musician Penny Ikinger will host an in-person conversation with Tony Biggs about music, broadcasting, Melbourne’s underground culture and the extraordinary journey that has taken Tony from Brisbane radio to one of Melbourne’s most recognisable independent broadcasting voices.
Penny Ikinger is an antipodean rock force — fuzz queen, sonic chanteuse and primal mistress of rock. A singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer with decades of experience, Penny brings her distinctive perspective, sharp insight and professional curiosity to her conversation series, A Penny For Your Thoughts.

This is the second session in the series.

Penny has known Tony since the early 1980s and says:

“I’m so excited to be chatting to Tony Biggs, who I have known for more than 40 years. He has made such a huge impact on the Australian cultural landscape with his fearless take on politics, his unwillingness to compromise, and his extraordinary breadth of musical knowledge.”

Come along for what promises to be a lively and engaging conversation between two long-standing voices from Melbourne’s music and underground cultural scene — and an opportunity to browse Tony’s collection and perhaps take home a few treasures of your own.
